General
Arum Company, LLC (“Arum,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of the people who use arumapp.com, beta.arumapp.com, any sites hosted on them, and any related apps or software (together, the “Platform”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from and about you, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. It is incorporated into and part of our Terms of Service, and capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms.
This Policy does not cover the practices of third parties you may choose to share information with through the Platform. Those third parties have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.
The Platform is hosted in the United States and is subject to U.S. federal and state law. If you access the Platform from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, and by using the Platform you consent to that transfer.
From time to time we may contact you about announcements, updates, and offers. You can opt out of promotional messages at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us at hello@arumapp.com
Non-Personally-Identifying Information
Users of the Platform generally
“Non-Personally-Identifying Information” is information that, on its own, cannot be tied to a specific person. “Personally-Identifying Information” (“Personal Information”) is information such as a name or email address that can be associated with a specific person. Like most online services, Arum automatically gathers certain Non-Personally-Identifying Information that browsers and devices make available, such as IP address, operating system, and browser type. We use this information to understand how the Platform is used and to improve it, and we may share it in aggregate form.
Automatically collected information
When you access the Platform, we automatically collect certain information about your device and your use of the Platform, including:
-
Device information: the hardware, operating system, browser, and unique device identifiers you use.
-
Log data: your IP address, browser type and settings, dates and times of access, and cookie data.
-
Usage information: how you interact with the Platform, such as the pages you view and the links you click.
-
Mobile information: if you use a mobile device, device identifiers, model, and operating system information.
-
Cookies: information collected through cookies and similar technologies, as described below and in our Cookie Policy.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help the Platform function, keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and help us understand usage. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, but some features of the Platform may not work properly without them. For more detail, see our Cookie Policy.
Web beacons
We may use small tracking objects known as web beacons in some emails to tell whether a message has been opened and to measure engagement. Web beacons collect only limited information and are not used to access your Personal Information. You can limit them by declining cookies or turning off images in your email client.
Analytics
We use third-party analytics providers to understand how the Platform is used and to improve it. These providers may use cookies and similar technologies to collect usage and device information. If we use Google Analytics, you can opt out using Google’s Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Aggregated information
We may share aggregated or de-identified information that does not identify you, for example to describe how the Platform is used or for general business analysis.
Hosting and infrastructure providers
The Platform runs on third-party hosting and infrastructure providers that process and store information on our behalf to operate and secure the Platform. These providers act as our service providers and are authorized to use the information only to provide services to us and as this Policy describes.
Mobile device users
Location: Unless you give us permission, we do not track precise location from your mobile device, though we may infer general location from your IP address. Social media: The Platform may link to social networks; your use of those sites is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, which we do not control.
Non-Personally-Identifying Information
Information we collect
We collect Personal Information that you provide and that is needed to operate the marketplace. Depending on whether you are a Client or a Creator, this may include your name, email address, phone number, account and profile details, the content and portfolio images you upload, messages you send through the Platform, and payment or payout information. You are not required to provide this information, but if you do not, you may not be able to use parts of the Platform. By submitting information through the Platform, you consent to our use and disclosure of it as described here. We keep Personal Information only as long as needed for the purposes described, to resolve disputes, and to meet legal obligations.
How information flows between Clients and Creators
Because Arum is a marketplace, some information is shared between users to make a service possible. When a Client books a Creator, we share the information each side needs to communicate and complete the service, such as names, relevant project details, and messages sent through the Platform. Creator profiles, including portfolio content, are visible to Clients. You are responsible for the information you choose to share with the other party, and for obtaining any permissions needed for content you upload, for example a Client’s permission before a Creator posts photos of their home.
Payments and payouts
Payments from Clients and payouts to Creators are processed by our payment processor, Stripe. When you make a payment or set up payouts, your payment information is collected and processed by Stripe under its own terms and privacy policy. Arum does not store full payment card numbers. We receive limited transaction information needed to operate the marketplace, such as whether a payment succeeded and the status of a payout.
Communications from us
We may use your name and email to send you account and service messages, and, unless you opt out, occasional messages about features or offers we think you will find useful. You can opt out of promotional messages at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.
How we disclose information
We disclose Personal Information in the following circumstances:
-
By law or to protect rights: to comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, prevent fraud or wrongdoing, enforce our agreements, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Arum, our users, or others.
-
Service providers: with providers who process information on our behalf, including hosting, payment processing (Stripe), analytics, and customer support providers, who are authorized to use it only to provide services to us.
-
Between users: as described above, to make a booked service possible.
-
Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell your Personal Information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising or direct marketing.
Accessing, changing, or deleting your information
You can review, update, or request deletion of your account information by contacting us at hello@arumapp.com. We will act on your request as required by law. We may retain some information as needed to prevent fraud, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and comply with legal obligations, so not all information may be removed.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to operate the Platform and your account; enable bookings and communication between Clients and Creators; process payments and payouts through Stripe; communicate with you; improve, personalize, secure, and support the Platform; detect and prevent fraud and abuse; enforce our Terms; and comply with legal obligations.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect your information from loss, theft, alteration, and misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date, and we may communicate significant changes to you. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
Children's Privacy
The Platform is intended for adults and is not directed to children. You must be at least 18 to use it. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from anyone under 18, and in no event from children under 13 as defined by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us at hello@arumapp.com and we will delete it.
Your state privacy rights (U.S.)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your Personal Information under state privacy laws, including the right to know what we collect, to access it, to correct it, and to request its deletion. We do not sell your Personal Information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise a right, contact us at [Contact Email]. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
For EEA and UK users
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may have additional rights, including to access, correct, delete, or port your Personal Information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. We rely on lawful bases such as performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests, and your consent where required. To exercise these rights, contact us at [Contact Email]. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children's Privacy
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no common standard for interpreting it, the Platform does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals.
